Custom Wedding Postage Stamps - Add personality

With the introduction of customized wedding postage stamps, couples are flocking to specialty websites where they can order special stamps for their wedding stationery. Another way of adding the WOW factor to your celebration!

Countries all around the world are starting to offer custom postage – check your own postal service to see if this is available where you live.

The process of creating one-of-a-kind, unique wedding postage stamps is generally the same regardless of where you live. Create the design or choose the photo, upload, re-size and pick a border, decide how many you need and send your order.

In Canada, you must purchase your stamps through Canada Post who has partnered with Canadian Bank Note to bring us Picture Postage™. Custom stamps come in first class denomination only – suitable for standard sized envelopes up to 30 grams in weight. A word of caution though – you may need 2 stamps if you are sending several enclosures or over-sized envelopes. Picture Postage™ offers a Keepsake sheet consisting of 20 stamps and a larger image to keep as a souvenir. Cost is $27.95 for a single sheet and the more you buy, the more you save.

A second option is a full sheet of 40 stamps for $44.75 with no souvenir image. Again buy more and save more. These can be used anywhere in Canada.

If you are mailing to destinations outside of Canada you’ll need to purchase standard issue US or International postage. You can not customize any stamp other than the standard first class.

The US Postal Service offers a couple of options for wedding postage. They do have a small variety of wedding stamps at regular issue price. So getting a special stamp for your wedding stationery doesn’t have to come at an inflated price.

They have also issued vendor licenses to several companies that allow them to customize and print official US postage. These companies print a bar code right on the stamp which may deter slightly from the overall design but on the upside, they can be issued in nearly every denomination you could possibly need. And of course, all the personalization does come at a cost. Expect to pay anywhere from $5 to $10 over and above the price of the postage for custom wedding postage stamps.

But the price just may be well worth it! Suddenly your options are endless when it comes to really making an impression with your wedding stationery and you can get very creative. If you can dream it up and create it, you can likely put it on a stamp.

Some of the partner vendors have thousands of photos in their galleries to choose from. But if you are going to pay for custom postage, why not make it truly personal and unique. Use your own picture or ensure you have the rights to use the one you plan to before you press send.

And with the bar code taking up some space on your stamp, ensure you know exactly what size the image on the finished product will be.

According to the PictureItPostage™ website, their stamps are twice as big as other products on the market. Your picture, logo or graphic will be printed so that it measures 1 1/2" x 1 3/16". The total size of the stamp is 2 1/2" x 1 9/16". You can match background colors to your picture or logo and stamps can be printed either portrait or landscape.

Using custom wedding postage stamps can be an advantage when you are sending out wedding invitations at Christmas time. With your guests receiving so many envelopes in the mail, yours will be different and they’ll know immediately that this mail is special.
