One of the most important wedding photography tips is to :
- Choose your wedding photographer and videographer carefully. Make sure your ideas match his/her ideas and are explained well.
- Be organized, (use this free wedding photography checklist). Being organized, on time and aware of what you would like for your wedding photos will be extremely helpful to the photographer. If you want your wedding photos at a certain time of the day, make sure you keep to your schedule and be on time.
- Make a list of all your wedding photography ideas - family shots etc This is important to think through well in advance. You will be very disappointed to find out you've missed a special shot (3 generations photo) when the day is over. Make sure your photographer gets a copy of this list so that he/she knows exactly what you are looking for.(Add it to the Wedding Photography Checklist); and most importantly,
- Spend time with your wedding photographer communicating your wedding photography ideas. If you would like some black and white or sepia photos - make sure they know; Do you want more family shots or more wedding couple shots? Do you want the casual snapshots when you're not looking or do you want the organized group photos? It is up to you.
- Make sure you look through samples of what your photographer has done in the past. This will give you ideas of what you like as well as whether this photographer is for you. You can also use those photos to explain to the photographer just what you are looking for - "We love these outdoor, natural shots, and not the poses." and so on. This is crucial information for the photographer and remember he/she cannot read your mind.
