Venetian Blind Cleaning

by Rikki

Here's an easy solution for Venetian blind cleaning. Unfortunately, venetian blinds collect dust about as good as they block out sunlight and nosy neighbors. Whether you've just moved into a place that needs a little TLC or are behind on your cleaning schedule cleaning the blinds is much easier than it seems.

I have seen people clean the blinds by hand while they're still attached to the window, running up and down each blind with a damp cloth. This way can work, but you'll usually miss spots.

The best way in my opinion for venetian blind cleaning is to take the blinds off of the window first. Fill a bath tub with warm water and add one gallon of pure white distilled vinegar. The vinegar will actually cause the dirt and grime to lift right off the blinds.

Leave your blinds in the vinegar-water mixture until the blinds look fresh and dirt free. Swish them around in the water to loosen off extra dust. Drain the tub and rinse the blinds with cold water from the shower head. Use a soft dry towel to pat dry the blinds and then put them back up.

It's as easy as that. Vinegar is truly the wonder cleaner. I use it for just about everything.
