How to Choose Laundry Room Cabinets

If you're going to be renovating or adding cabinets to your laundry room there are some important steps to take to ensure you get cabinetry that fits, both functionally and spatially.

The first thing you must do is measure your space. Measure wall to wall, floor to ceiling, wherever you plan on adding cabinets. Record your measurements to add in a sketch later.

Next think of how you want your cabinets to function. This will affect what type of cabinets you need. Are you looking for shelves, drawers, and in what size? You want efficient cabinetry, where every space has a function. The exact placement may not be what you end up buying, but having a good idea of what you want makes shopping so much easier.

Next, do up your sketch using your measurements and vision for the space. Remember, it doesn't need to be artistically spectacular, just functional! Include any notes on colors, or wood grains, harware or anything else you can think of that you want your cabinets to be like.

Then, get shopping! Go online to major cabinetry or furniture stores. Pay attention to materials used. You want cabinets that will last. Spending a little more on quality will pay off in the long run.

You can buy pre assembled cabinets, or ones that you put together and install yourself. The latter are usually cheaper, but the former are easier and faster to install. Buying cabinetry online can seem a little scary, so if you're unsure find the product you like online and see if it's available in a store near you so you can have a look at them before purchasing whichever one is at the best deal.
